Canon 60D Price - Should You Buy Canon 60D DSLR Camera
Canon 60D Price
Canon 60D Price Comparison
The Canon 60D price has been decreasing since it was first release in August 2010 at an official retail price of $999 for the body only version. If you are planning to buy a DSLR camera for the first time, the Canon 60D is a good choice since it produces good image quality for a decent price. Currently, it costs $899 for the body only model and $1199 for the kit version that comes with 18-135mm standard zoom lens.
If you already own Canon DSLR cameras, chances are that you can still reuse your existing lenses and can just get the body only version and saves $300 instantly. However, if you are upgrading from point and shoot cameras and want to have good quality image, you should go for the kit version that comes with the 18-135mm zoom lenses. This is because it is cheaper to buy the kit lenses rather then to buy the body only version and the individual lenses separately.
Although I'm not a professional photographer but I prefer the Canon 60D since I am not satisfied with the image quality of point and shoot camera. In addition, the 60D is much compact and lighter as compared to the newer Canon 7D. The 60D also has a swivel display that is helpful when recording video.
I usually take family and portrait shots so I don't really need a zoom lens. The picture quality is as good as the Canon 7D, but you will save about $300 if you choose the 60D instead since it also have a fast autofocus feature and take good quality shots both in the day and at night.
However, one disadvantage of the 60D is that there is no autofocus in picture mode, which I hope Canon could correct that "mistake" in the future body upgrade. Although there are concerns that the 60D plastic material body has an inferior feel, but you need not worry about that since the plastic in 60D is made of enforced material and so will not affect the quality of the picture shots. The advantage of a plastic body is of course a much lighter weight as compared to the 7D. Hanging a 4 pound of steel body camera for 8 hours around your neck is no laughing matter.
